Starting art classes as a complete beginner can feel both exciting and intimidating. If you’ve always admired art from afar but never picked up a paintbrush or clay yourself, the thought of diving in might seem overwhelming. But the beauty of starting fresh is that you don’t need any prior experience to begin. In this new year, why not try and explore your artistic side and discover the joy of creating something uniquely yours? Here are some great art classes that are perfect for all skill levels.
Center for the Visual Arts
The Center for the Visual Arts (CVA) is a premier cultural institution in Central Wisconsin. With a respected art school and a juried gallery shop, the CVA plays a vital role in fostering creativity in the community. The CVA continues to nurture the artists of tomorrow by offering a diverse range of educational classes designed to inspire and develop artistic talent. You can find workshops for Adults and Youths, as well as Multi-Aged fit for a wide range of ages.
For Adults, you can take a stab at wheel-throwing and pottery, paint with wool, and learn rug-hooking techniques, intro to printmaking, beginner acrylic painting, and more!
If you’re a little younger, you can paint a portrait of your pet and learn the basics of color theory or try out a drawing, painting, or pottery workshop for youths.
The CVA also hosts Critique Nights where community artists exchange ideas, build community, and give artists a chance to see their work through others’ eyes.
Prices range from $30-$200
