Greetings Badger State Games Competitors,
Thank you for participating in the 2023 Badger State Games! We are excited to host you in Wausau, Wisconsin. Within this letter you will find some details to help you prepare for the weekend of competition.
Draw Times: See the attached draw sheet
Pool Play Format: Each division has eight teams. The eight teams are separated into two pools of four teams. Each team will play a three‐game round robin with other teams in their pool. The top two teams from each pool will advance to the medal rounds Sunday morning. All ties will be decided using the tie breaking method explained later. The advancing teams will then be ranked 1 ‐ 4 for the semifinals based on their record with tiebreakers used. The winners of the Sunday morning games will advance to the Gold/Silver Medal game, and the two losing teams will play for the Bronze medal.
Tiebreaking Method: After the second game in each division is played, each member of the team will throw one rock trying to get as close to the center of the button (the pin) as possible. The cumulative distance of the teams four throws measured in inches from the center of the button will be used in any tie breaking situations during the tournament.
Notes:
- A Badger State Games representative will serve as an official measurer.
- Any stone that misses the house will be counted as 100”.
- Sweeping is allowed for the tie breaker throws.
- If there is a situation where two teams have the same tie breaking number and the tie cannot be broken, we will have a coin toss to break the tie.
