Warmer weather means it's racing season!

Here are the races in May within the Wausau area:

 

May 2-3: Wausau Ultra

This race is different. We think you knew that when you signed up, but if not, warning. This is not your average 5k with a set distance and end time. Only YOU can determine how far you can go or how hard you push each loop. 

May 10: Over the Hill 5K Walk and Fun Run

Lace up your sneakers and join us for the inaugural “Over the Hill 5K Walk and Fun Run,” weaving through the charming, time-honored streets of the Forest Park Village neighborhood in the northeast part of the city of Wausau.

May 17: Armed Forces Day Free Kids Run   |   IRONBULL

May 24: Rib Mountain Adventure Challenge   |   IRONBULL

The Rib Mountain Adventure Challenge is an adventure race in which teams of 2-4 members and soloists will run, bike, and paddle through the rugged and beautiful Central Wisconsin wilderness using only a map and compass to find the way. Team members must stick together throughout the race.

With plenty of route choices and obstacles to test your team’s physical strength and mental resolve, this race will be fun for beginners and seasoned athletes. 

Choose from the 3-hour, 8-hour, or 18-hour challenge.

May 30 - June 15: Essential Gravel Bike Ride   |   IRONBULL 

This free bike ride is returning in 2025 for its 6th year! Its purpose is to introduce people to gravel riding and provide an option for gravel enthusiasts. You may ride at a leisurely pace or race and get some competitive juices flowing. You can even ride the course as many times as you want! You may participate as a small group or solo.

May 31: Run for Their Lives 5K Run & Walk (In-person/Virtual)   |   HSMC

Bring the whole family out, or encourage the office to get out in support of the Humane Society of Marathon County! Choose to participate in person or virtually.  The in-person option provides chip-timing for participants that cross the starting line between 8:30 - 9:00 am.  Virtual participants who would like to compete for a medal will be asked to upload their customer route & time verification by Friday evening, May 30th, 11:59 pm.  Awards will be available at the event to in-person participants on race day and mailed the week of June 1st to virtual participants.  As always, we encourage you to bring your favorite four-legged friend out with you!
