Get ready to ignite your excitement because the fireworks are making a triumphant return to the Greater Wausau area this July. After canceling the event the past few years, Mayor Katie Rosenberg proposed partnering with the area municipalities for an incredible joint fireworks show. The Wausau City Council, along with the communities of Rib Mountain, Rothschild, Schofield, and Weston approved the collaboration in March.

On July Fourth evening, a fireworks show will light the night sky over the Wausau Airport looking toward the river. Fireworks will begin around 9:30 p.m. While the airport will not be open to the public to view the display, spectators can view the show from surrounding areas.

Where should you set up? The following options could be great locations to catch the dazzling show.

📍Airport Park

📍Alexander Park

📍Bluegill Bay County Park

📍On the water.

The upgraded location will allow for larger fireworks than used in previous shows, making it northern Wisconsin's biggest fireworks display.

So grab your friends and family, blankets and chairs, and head to your local viewing area for the glitter and glow this Fourth of July.
