Nine Mile Forest Recreation Area
8704 Redbud Rd.
Wausau, WI 54401

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that the Wausau Winter Triathlon 2019 is cancelled.

It is not just the lack of snow, but the layers of ice that are covering the trails making it hazardous for all.

Watch for this great event in 2020!! It will be worth the wait!

For those already registered, you will be contacted and refunded in the next week.

Athlete Information:

The Wausau Winter Triathlon is a sprint style triathlon that begins with Nordic Skiing (7k skate or classic) to Fat Biking (10k) and finishes with a Snowshoe run (5k); Distances/legs may vary due to weather.*

Ski portion is on skate and classic groomed trail, Fat Bike and snowshoe portions are on rough-groomed singletrack trail all through beautiful Nine Mile County Forest. Helmets and 3.8" tires are required on the bike.

*Event modifications will be made for low/no snow conditions so the event will not be cancelled. These could include cancelling the ski portion or replacing it with a shorter run. Also, the snow shoe run may be changed to a trail run. Any changes will be announced by Jan 21, 2019.
