Can I use this race to qualify for The Boston Marathon?
Yes. This course can be used to qualify for the Boston, Chicago, and New York Marathons.

Will there be aid stations?
The full marathon will have 8 aid stations, the half will have 6, the 5k will have 1. Each aid station will have gatorade and water. Aid stations at mile 7 and 17.8 will feature Gu Gels.
Where and when is packet pick-up?
Packet pick-up will be held at Shepherd and Schaller in downtown Wausau. Pick-up will occur on Thursday 8/17 from 12 - 5pm & Friday 8/18 from 12-7pm. If you arrive after 5pm on Friday 8/18 please pick up your packet at the table in the 400 Block. If you cannot pick-up your packet on the designated dates, please contact the race organizers at wausaumarathon@gmail.com.

Are there awards?
The male and female overall winners of the full and half marathon will have their names engraved on the Wausau Marathon trophy.
The top 3 overall male and female finishers of the full marathon will receive a pair of Goodr Sunglasses, free entry for next year's Wausau Marathon, half marathon, or 5k, and a free 2 night stay an Onora Suites in Wausau.
The top 3 overall male and female finishers of the half marathon will receive a pair of Goodr Sunglasses, free entry for next year's Wausau Marathon, half marathon, or 5k and a gift from the Great Dane Pub.
Top 3 overall male and female finishers of the 5k will receive a free pair of Goodr sunglasses.
Additionally, top 3 finishers in each age category for the full and half marathon will receive a pair of Goodr sunglasses. The age categories are:
15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
Where are bathrooms located?
There will be portable restrooms available at the race start/ finish. There will also be portable restrooms at every aid station on course.
What are the race time cutoffs?
The marathon racecourse will close at 1 p.m.
Can I edit my registration or change race distances?
Yes. You can modify your race registration until 5 p.m. on August 15th. No modifications will be allowed after this date.
When is the last day to register?
August 17th at 5 p.m. is the cutoff for race registration.
Does The Wausau Marathon support any charities?
Yes. We are a non profit and proud to support the Shannon Marie & Louis Porter Smith Foundation, the Children's Imaginarium, and Northern Extreme Athletics.We also support myTeam Triumph. All proceeds from The Wausau Marathon will support the greater Wausau community.
Are walkers welcome?
Absolutely! We encourage anyone and everyone to participate. Please be aware of the race cutoff times to ensure you finish before the course closes.
Can I wear headphones?
Yes, you may wear headphones. However, please exercise caution and maintain awareness of yourself and others at all times.
Is there a gear check?
No, we will not have any gear check available in 2023.
Can a family member or friend cross the finish line with me?
Unfortunately, only registered participants may enter the course or finish line chute. This is to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators. Any violators of this policy will be disqualified.
How do I exchange my race shirt?
You can exchange your race shirt after the races have been completed on Saturday the 19th. Exchanges are not guaranteed and are dependent on availability.
Is there an age minimum?
Participants must be 13 years old to compete in the full and half marathon. 10 years old to compete in the 5k.
Is there medical support on the course should I need assistance?
Yes. There will be a medical tent at the start/ finish line. If you require assistance during the race, find a volunteer or an aid station and they will be able to contact the medical tent. Personnel will come to you on the course.
What if I cannot finish before the cutoff times?
If you are unable to finish prior to the course closing at 1 p.m. then you will be directed to the sidewalks off the official course and may finish at your own risk but without race support. If you are able to make it to the finish line you will be allowed to finish but will not receive an official time.
