WAUSAU, WI (Dec. 26, 2018) – 2019 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Badger State Games’ Winter Games, Wisconsin’s largest annual Olympic-style sporting competition for amateur athletes of all ages and athletic abilities. The Badger State Games (BSG) promote an active and healthy lifestyle and provide athletes an opportunity to compete, with friends new and old, in the sports they love.
BSG Winter Games began back in 1989 with only five events – Alpine Skiing, Curling, Nordic Skiing, Figure Skating, and Hockey. These games have grown significantly, offering 25 various sporting events in 2019, giving athletes the chance to win Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and earn their way to the National State Games of America.

2019 also marks 35 years of BSG Summer Games which will include 28 different events and runs from May through September. Badger State Summer & Winter Games combined, registers over 12,000 athletes annually for over 50 events, creating an estimated $8 million of tourism income around greater Wausau.
