WAUSAU, WI (Dec. 26, 2018) – The Badger State Games’s (BSG) Winter Games and Wausau/Central Wisconsin Sports Authority are celebrating 30 years of great tradition of Olympic-style sporting events for amateur athletes of all ages and athletic abilities. To kick-off the 2019 winter season, BSG is holding opening ceremonies on Thursday, January 10, 2019.
Opening ceremonies will include opening comments by Sports Authority’s Executive Director, Richard Barrett and City of Wausau Mayor, Robert Mielke, guest commissioners and athletes from the original five sports, displays from previous years, refreshments, and ceremonial lighting of the Winter Games torch. The original five winter sports included Alpine Skiing, Curling, Nordic Skiing, Figure Skating, and Hockey. In 2019, BSG Winter Games will hold 25 sporting events including the originals, along with eGames, Bowling, Martial Arts, Ski Jumping, Disc Golf, Youth Snowmobiling, and much more!
