Parks/Forests
The Wausau area is fortunate to have a multitude of great parks and forest areas for a variety of recreational activities, from large state and county parks to the small community park.
Rib Mountain State Park is the centerpiece in the area, offering miles of hiking and snowshoe trails, downhill skiing at Granite Peak Ski Area, observation tower and rock outcroppings for exploring.
The Dells of the Eau Claire County Park surrounds fantastic geological features created by the Eau Claire River. Explore ancient volcanic rock palisades and potholes carved in the rock by the falling water as you hike around the miles of trails, or spend some time in the park's campground facilities.
Nine Mile County Forest Recreation Area features year round recreational activities, from hiking and biking in the summer months to extensive cross country skiing and snowshoeing when the snow flies. With over 18 miles of trails you are sure to find terrain to challenge every skill level!
The 400 Block in downtown Wausau offers up the perfect musical venue during the summers, as well as hosts a variety of events and one of the area's farmers markets.

3M Park offers areas with playground equipment, half-court basketball court, two tennis courts, an open shelter, two minor league baseball diamonds, soccer field and portable toilet facilities. In winter months 3M Park is a popular lighted sledding hill.

400 Block

The 400 Block in downtown Wausau was completed in 2011 to include a permanent stage and sound system, seating and landscaping, and a lighted fountain. Veterans Memorial Park
On November 11, 2007 the Blue Star Memorial was rededicated to Veterans at its new location south of the Village Hall. A parcel of land was graciously donated by the Village for this project that offers a garden setting for reflection.

Walter Zych Park
This beautiful ¾-acre, wooded neighborhood park provides an excellent play area for children to use for a ball field, soccer, basketball, and other games along with a picnic area. The park also includes a paved basketball court with two concrete standards, a softball backstop, concrete culverts, jungle gyms, picnic tables, small child slide, four-seat bouncer, junior whirl, sand volleyball court, balance beam, drinking fountain, swings, teeter-totter, E-Z digger, and concrete climbing turtles.
